Q: How accurate are the calculations?
A: All calculations in BioCalc use scientifically validated formulas:
- Molarity calculations use standard chemistry formulas
- DNA/RNA quantification follows Beer-Lambert law with accepted extinction coefficients (dsDNA: 50 μg/mL, RNA: 40 μg/mL)
- PCR calculations include standard pipetting overage recommendations
- Melting temperature calculations use established methods for primer design
Q: What do the purity ratio results mean?
A: The A₂₆₀/A₂₈₀ ratio indicates sample purity:
- dsDNA: 1.8-2.0 is pure
- RNA: 2.0-2.2 is pure
- Lower ratios may indicate protein contamination
- Higher ratios may indicate RNA contamination (for DNA samples)
Q: Can I save my calculations?
A: Currently, BioCalc does not save calculation history. This is a privacy feature - your data never leaves your device and isn't stored permanently.
